DR. FREDERICK L.
OSWALD: Dr. Fred
Oswald is an Associate Professor of Rice University in the
Industrial/Organizational Psychology program. His research is
concerned with personnel selection issues in organizational,
education and military settings. Specifically, his work deals with
defining, modeling and predicting performance outcomes from
psychological measures that are based on cognitive and motivational
constructs (e.g., cognitive abilities, personality traits,
situational judgment tests, job knowledge and skill, and
biographical data). His methodological work in adverse impact, test
score banding, meta-analysis and structural equation modeling also
informs personnel selection issues and psychological testing. Dr.
Oswald publishes his research in collaboration with the graduate
students he mentors, and he has a history of large-scale
grant-funded projects. In addition to the Associate Editor role, he
serves on the editorial boards for several major organizational
research journals, including Journal
of Applied Psychology, International Journal of Selection and
Assessment, Journal of Management, and Organizational Research
Methods. Dr. Oswald received his Ph.D. at the University of
Minnesota in 1999.
DR. JUAN I. SANCHEZ: Dr. Juan I. Sanchez is Professor of Management and
International Business and Knight-Ridder Byron Harless Eminent
Chair of Management at Florida International University. He earned
his Masters and Ph.D. from the University of South Florida, Tampa.
His research has received awards from the International Personnel
Management Association and the National Society for Performance and
Instruction. He has published in refereed journals such as the
Academy of Management
Journal, the Academy of
Management Executive, the Journal of Applied Psychology, the
Journal of Organizational Behavior,
Personnel Psychology, the Journal of Occupational and Organizational
Psychology, Group and Organization Management, the Journal of Vocational Behavior, the
Journal of Applied Social
Psychology, the Journal of
Quality Management, the Journal of Business and Psychology,
Educational and Psychological Measurement, the International Journal of Human Resource
Management, the Journal of
Business Ethics, and Human
Resources Management Review, among others. He has served on
the editorial boards of the Journal
of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Group &
Organization Management, and the International Journal of Selection and
Assessment. Professor Sanchez occasionally serves as an
expert witness in cases involving human resource management
disputes. He has consulted with multiple organizations in the U.S.,
Latin America, and Europe. He has also consulted with government
agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the
U.S. Army, the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Academy of
Sciences, and the Veterans Administration.
DR. EDWARD L. LEVINE:
Dr. Edward L. Levine earned his Ph.D. in
industrial and organizational psychology from New York University
in 1970. He is currently Professor in the Psychology Department at
the University of South Florida and served as Chair of the
department from 1993 to 2001. His research interests include job
analysis, personnel selection, control in organizations, and the
impact of affect at work. He is certified as a diplomat in
Industrial and Organizational Psychology by the American Board of
Professional Psychology, and he is a Fellow of the Society for
Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the American
Psychological Association.
DR.
CHARLES HANDLER, PHR: Dr. Charles Handler, PHR is the president and
founder of Rocket-Hire a consultancy dedicated to helping
organizations use technology and best practices to build effective,
legally sound employee selection systems. Before founding
Rocket-Hire, Dr. Handler spent almost a decade developing and
validating employee selection systems for a wide variety of jobs in
a number of settings including, retail, manufacturing,
telecommunications, high-tech, and public safety. Dr. Handler is an
internationally known thought leader in the development of online
screening and assessment technology. Since starting Rocket-Hire, he
has specialized in partnering with customers to develop strategies
to help increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the employee
selection process. In addition to Internet based hiring practices,
Dr. Handler has also conducted extensive survey work and created
training/development and performance management systems for a
variety of companies. Dr. Handler actively writes and speaks about
online assessment and other strategic HR issues. Dr. Handler is the
author of the "Rocket-Hire Buyer's Guide to Web Based Screening and
Staffing Assessment Systems" and is a regular contributor to Workforce Magazine, and SHRM's
Employment Management Association
Employment Management Today Magazine. Dr. Handler is also a
regular columnist for the Electronic
Recruiting Exchange's daily online newsletter.
DR. ARTHUR GUTMAN:
Dr. Arthur Gutman is professor of psychology
and past chair of the Personnel Psychology program at the Florida
Institute of Technology. His previous work and publications are in
the areas of training, statistics, and learning and memory. He is a
former National Institute of Mental Health Postdoctoral Fellow, and
is currently a consultant to the Center for Substance Abuse
Prevention on program evaluation. His other major consultations
include U.S. Army and Air Force, American Institutes for Research,
Brevard County Police Testing Center, among others. His acclaimed
text, EEO Law and Personnel Practices is noted by his peers as a
masterful effort to absorb and convey the complexity of the legal
requirements that apply to employment opportunities for protected
classes of applicants and employees.
DR. LORI FOSTER
THOMPSON: Dr. Lori
Foster Thompson is an Associate Professor of Psychology at North
Carolina State University (NCSU). She earned her Ph.D. in
industrial/organizational psychology from the University of South
Florida in 1999. Her writing, speaking, and consulting work relate
to employee reactions to emerging technologies, organizational
surveys, and multisource (360-degree) feedback. She also studies
careers. She has published articles, chapters, and a book on one or
more of these topics and has consulted in a variety of settings,
including law enforcement, the military, and the utilities
industry. Before joining NCSU, Dr. Thompson worked for Personnel
Decisions Research Institutes (PDRI) and spent 5 years on faculty
at East Carolina University. She has been a Senior Research Fellow
at the Army Research Institute's Fort Bragg field office since
2001. Her editorial board memberships include The Industrial-Organizational
Psychologist (TIP), the Journal of Organizational Behavior,
and Ergometrika, where she is
Associate Editor.
JOAN BRANNICK, Ph.D.: Joan Brannick, Ph.D., SPHR is an industrial
psychologist that consults, writes, and speaks on effective talent
management practices. She helps leaders and managers feel, think,
and act differently about finding, hiring, and keeping great
people. Through consulting, training, and speaking, Joan works with
organizations to create, implement, and evaluate a people strategy
that supports their organization's vision and objectives. She is
the author of Hiring@NetSpeed and co-author of Finding and Keeping
Great Employees, a Fortune
Magazine "Best Business Book." Her insights on workplace trends and
recruitment and retention best practices have appeared in many
online and print publications including CNN Financial News, CIO Magazine, HR Magazine, and Fortune Magazine. With more than 19
years of consulting experience, Joan has worked with scores of
public and private organizations representing a diverse range of
industries including retail, telecommunications, insurance, federal
government, public utility, manufacturing, and publishing. Joan
received her Bachelor degrees in Management and Psychology from the
University of Texas at Austin. She earned her doctorate degree in
Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Bowling Green State
University in Ohio. As an adjunct professor at the University of
South Florida, Joan continues to keep abreast of the most recent
developments in employee selection and retention.
